FAQ – What is the Worlds Hottest Chilli

[caption id="attachment_10629" align="alignleft" width="136" caption="Trinidad Scorpion “Butch T” – 1,463,700 SHU ..."]Trinidad Scorpion “Butch T” - 1,463,700 SHU[/caption] Over the past few years we have seen the recognised record holder changed a few times. For many years it was the Red Savina Habanero (USA) at around 577,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), then came the Naga Jolokia Chilli (India) at 1,050,000 (SHU), this a big surprise from the UK came the Infinity Chilli at 1,176,182 SHU and then the Naga Viper at 1,349,000 SHU. But passing all of them has been the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T at 1,463,700 SHU. You can read our list of scoville rating here

I am growing Moruga Scorpions and Ghost Chill’s and the scorpions especially seem to have finished growing and are green, i am waiting for them to ripen but nothing has happened yet and its been around two to three weeks, just wondering if there’s anything i can do to speed up the process??

Actually the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T is not the Worlds Hottest that honor goes to to Smokin Ed’s ‘Carolina Reaper’, grown by The PuckerButt Pepper Company (USA). The average pepper is around 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units (SHU)
