Chillies are one of the mainstays of American cuisine, so USA born Shawn will take visitors on a guided tour of the growing tunnels where more than 40 different varieties of chilli peppers are grown, including the Dorset Naga, one of the hottest chillies in the world. Visitors can also call upon Shawn’s in-depth knowledge of this underestimated culinary ingredient.

Visitors will be treated to demonstrations of how to grow their own chilli plants and easy ways to cook with chillies. There will be an all-day barbecue where young and old can enjoy a range of chilli delights including chilli burgers and Jalapeno Poppers, chillies stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon.

Visitors will be able to browse the greenhouses and pick their own fresh chillies peppers straight off the plant, buy a chilli plant so they can grow their own , or buy one of Joanna’s renowned gourmet chilli sauces. As a bonus, every purchaser will receive a complimentary chilli hot chocolate.

The Edible Ornamentals Chilli Open Day will be on Sunday July 4th from 10am until 4pm.
