As your no doubt aware the Reaper is currently world number one on the old faithful Scoville scale with a whopping peak of 2.2 MSHU OUCH! I say currently as the word on the chilli street is that Ed Currie has hatched, made, bred or somehow made a deal with the devil to come up with something potentially hotter? Crazy mudder that one.
Anyway, any product with Reaper in generally gets peoples attention especially amongst the sadistic bunch of people who love pain with their food, or as we call ourselves, chilliheads. So when I was given a jar of Mr Vikki’s King Reaper Pickle I was pretty excited, but at the same time worried.
Worried as I have tried several of Mr Vikki’s products that are made to be hot and that is exactly what they are. Explosive heat levels as well as mild products so he covers all angles and covers them extremely well. And this 110g jar looks fairly aggressive with his usual yellow and red labelling which is accompanied by the logo from the Devon Chilliman as this is where the reapers have come from. Behind the label lurks a rich oily red pickle with flecks of seeds and flesh of pods. And the smell is reminiscent of an Indian restaurant which for me is always a plus. The ingredients are pretty impressive also showing a whopping 50% of this is made up of Superhots and reapers……
Ingredients: Red Jalapenos 30%, UK Superhots 35%, Carolina reaper chillies 15%, Rapeseed oil, Vinegar, Garlic, Salt, Mustard and spices.
