How its going Chilli Padawanz? I hope you’re all having as cracking a time as I am, maybe this review will help you and make your day a little brighter..or not, who knows!

chilli-pork-scratchingsToday I have a couple of products from Firefoods snacks range, namely their “Flaming scratchings” and “Firesticks“.

Firefoods have basically taken a load of well known and loved snacks and kicked them up a notch in both heat and flavour!! so without further ado, let me show you these wonderful morsels!!

Ingredients:

Flaming Scratchings: Pork scratchings, naga powder
Firestick Salamis: Salami, chilli, 1 million shu oil.

Okay, so looking at the two products above, one thing stands out massively…the inclusion of 1million SHU oil…so naturally I’m a little scared of eating the salami! Funniest thing is, on the website there is a warning:

“Please eat me out of the packet, if I get on your skin I will burn you”

So..there’s me reading this and thinking..”if it burns my SKIN, what the HELL is it going to do to my stomach??? needless to say, the foolhardy person that I am, I continued on..one million isn’t really that hot anyway right?….RIGHT!?

Yeah…turns out one million is pretty warm..even for me (I’m a wuss really) so the Firestick Salamis are definitely only for the hardened chilli heads..the Flaming Scratchings however, while hot are by no means extreme, so are a much more accessible meaty snack for both newbie and old hand chilli heads alike!
So..price wise, how do they match up? Well if you figure out the dirty lower quality pork scratchings are like 70p for a 45g bag and have nowhere near as much flavour, these are a mere £3 for 150g of good quality pork scratchings covered in naga powder, lovely!

The firestick Salamis are dearer at £6 a bag, but you do get three of them in a bag and the heat is mental, in fact you could chop these up into a chilli, or make cocktail sausages on sticks for your next party and watch the guests cry!

All good suggestions there!

You can buy both the snacks from www.firefoods.com

So, with another review in the bag, its time for me to say goodbye until next time my chilli padawanz, may the sauce be with you…always!

Ok, So I attended the Birmingham Chilli Festival on Saturday July 20th 2013 (where my colleague Steve won the Chilli eating competition – well done Stevo!!) And Fire Foods had a stall. I bought the Chiili Scratchings on recommendation and devoured them, two packs infact. Then expecting the Fire Sticks to be of similar heat bought a pack and took it to the pub. Suffice to say our party of five (including two girls may I add) were suitably destroyed by these little Salamis. Then the entire beer garden seeing us dance around became interested. having decided we couldn’t devour the whole pack we started dishing them out. They had quite an effect. Everybody bar none who had one left soon after! I and my friend went back for a second. This was enough!!!

Just had a Firestick-bloody insane! Slight delay to the hit but when it hits, wow! Plenty of heat followed by a nice, euphoric rush. Managed to avoid hiccups but I did take a short break halfway through 😉
