Eastnor Castle Chilli Sauce

Eastnor Castle Chilli Sauce

This bank holiday weekend (Sunday & Monday) is the Eastnor Castle Chilli Festival and our friends at The Wiltshire Chilli Farm have created a special sauce just of the event, there are only 100 bottles available and they will be sold on their stall at the event and in the Eastnor Castle Shop after the event.

Looking at the ingredients this sauce is not going to be a mind blowingly hot one, but on cracking the bottle open, it has the smell of tomato with the cider vinegar (I like cider vinegar sauces, they tend not to be as harsh as normal vinegar sauces). The sauce has a surprisingly good bite to it coming from the combination of the chilli and mustard.

The first flavour is from the tomatoes and onions which is soon followed by the warmth from the mustard and chilli leaving me with just a hint of garlic and tomato

The sauce is thick enough for use as a table condiment, while not as thick as a ketchup, it is ideal for dipping your chips in or adding a bit of zing to a bolognese, but best of all put this with a hot dog in a long bun and I think I have found tomorrows lunch.

Ingredients: Tomatoes, Onion, Sugar, Cider Vinegar, Chilli (3%), Garlic, Mustard, Various Spices.

Bottle Kindly provided by The Wiltshire Chilli Farm

This sauce is a very limited edition of only 100 bottle, it is not one of chilli farms sauce rebranded, so I am sure a few bottle will be going into collections, while the rest will be very much enjoyed.

So if you want to buy some you will need to get yourself off to the Eastnor Castle Chilli Festival this weekend, I expect it to be about £3.75 for a bottle.
