Tabasco Chipotle Pepper Sauce

Tabasco Chipotle Pepper Sauce

The Chipotle flavour rates as one of my favourite things in life, smoky and warm reminds me of BBQ, so lets find out if the Mcllhenny Company makers of Tabasco Brand sauces has got it right with there Chipotle version…. Will this a Hit or a Miss.

Well after a big struggle to get the lid to twist off, I did start to feel a bit of a wimp, but its off now, the smell is very pleasing, strongly chipotle, it the past Tabasco has been a bit of a salty Louisiana style sauce, and was probably mine and many other people’s introduction to chilli pepper sauces.

So it smell good, how does it taste, well it is still salty and has that initial acidic taste from a Tabasco sauce, but the Chipotle flavour is very much there the sauce is rated at between 2000 and 2500 SHU so it is a mild one, I treated it like a I would use HP sauce, and poured it over my cheese burger, it’s good surprisingly good.

Ingredients: Chipotle Pepper, Distilled Vinegar, Water, Salt, Sugar, Onion Powder, garlic Powder, Spices, Natural Flavor, TABASCO® brand Pepper Pulp (Distilled Vinegar, Red Pepper, Salt).

While it is not going to kill you, as I hope you would expect from a Chipotle based sauce, it is an interesting mix between a Louisiana style sauce and a Chipotle style ketchup, it is a lot thinner that a ketchup but has a similar flavour.

This sauce has scored well across the board with an 7.5-8/10 in most categorise, The flavour is good, I really enjoyed it, the packaging is as expected, it would have been a shame to lose the Tabasco style, and I have to say it is cheap at £1.69 for the more common 60ml bottle.

So for me this is a bit of a HIT, well done Tabasco for not messing up with my favourite chilli, but please let us know what you think.
