Well I can hear you all saying, what the #**# is Baobab, well I almost said the same thing when I got the press release from James at Bim’s Kitchen, but then I remembered unusual ingredients Bim’s Kitchen it all fits.

Baobab - Picture from Mighty Baobab

Baobab Fruits - Picture borrowed from Mighty Baobab

Well Baobab (AKA Adansonia digitata as well as  Upside Down Tree,  boab, boaboa, bottle tree, and the monkey bread tree) is one of the new SuperFruits being re-discovered by the West in Africa, and it seems almost every part of the tree is good for something, you can get a dried powdered version of the fruit from importer The Mighty Baobab who sell it in 200g and 1Kg packs powerdered and also as an oil from the seeds, which seems is good for you skin etc etc.

Baobab Sweet Hot Sauce

Baobab Sweet Hot Sauce

I was lucky enough to get a pre-release sample of the new sauce which is described as a  “Sweet Baobab Hot Sauce” and it tasted and smells amazing,  and also most unusual but very much what I have come to expect from James.

It is a thick probably due to the Baobab, with an initial a sweetness that gives over to a slight sour effect, as the sweetness fades. If you have not tried Bim’s Kitchen products before, the flavours can be a bit of a surprise with a different twist on when you may expect.

We are not doing a complete review of the sauce, as the version we got was a development sample, so we expect it to change, but if the sample is anything to go by James defiantly has a knack for making sauces..

To find out more informaton or to contact James visit Bim’s Kitchen at bimskitchen.com or email him at info@bimskitchen.com

Note: Must get James to send me a small sample of Baobab to taste in its raw form.
