Lily's Chillies Chilli Ketchup Smoky

Lily's Chillies Chilli Ketchup Smoky

Lily’s Chillies was set up by Charlotte & Jason Lacny after they won an Amateur Best taste Award at the Hove Chilli Festival, Lily is their daughter.

We have reviewed their Lime & Ginger Chilli Jelly before and it got a very rare 10/10 for flavour, so I am looking forward to trying this Chipotle based Ketchup.

The sauce is slightly lighter brown colour that HP Sauce. On cracking open the bottle there is a very pleasant smell from the Tomato and White wine vinegar with just a hint of Molasses. Unlike the overly sweet Heinz and other big brand ketchups, this has more texture to it, with small pieces of Chipotles and the Tomato flesh that has not being cooked and puréed to a super smooth paste.

The smoky flavour from the Chipotles is not over powering, neither is heat from them of the Habanero chillies, but provides a good background warmth that goes great with this mornings crisply grilled back bacon and eggs.

Ingredients: Tomatoes (Made with 200g per 100g of Ketchup), Onions, White Wine Vinegar, Sugar, Molasses, Chipotle Chillies (2%), Habanero Chillies (2%), Garlic, Spices, Salt, Black Peppercorns.

If you look at the ingredients list you will see there is no filler, nothing has been added that does not add to the flavour,  this is much more a craft style product, than commercial ketchups  and absolutely the reason why I love reviewing sauces.

As yet you cannot order Lily’s Chilli products on-line but there web site does provide contact details, so you may have to email them to find your local stockists.
