The highly successful FFUK Chilli Festival is being held in Victoria Gardens in Brighton on the 17/18th September 2011.

The event is famous for it amazing Chilli Eating Competition and the National Chilli Awards, this year they are including a Chilli plant growing area with growing demos byCraig McKnightWeGrowOurOwn Blog writer Wahaca’s chilli-growing guru and Growell Hydroponicsfor both regular (soil) and hydroponic (soiless) systems so bring your chilli queries to the FFUK Chilli Gardeners’ Question Time.

A first for this year, they are asking all amateur chilli growers to enter the chilli fruit competition which will be judged by some illustrious professional growers.

The categories are:

  • Longest chilli pepper
  • Most scary-looking chilli
  • Most unusual variety
  • Strangest-looking
  • Tastiest

They are also running a “Best Plant” contest – the judges will look for shape and size, leaf colour, most prolific fruiting, and general health of the plant.  There is still time to sow those seeds to bring your plants to perfection in time for the September festival.

If you want to get a feeling for the show, watch this video from last years event.
