The Wiltshire Chilli Farm - Mild Chilli Jam

The Wiltshire Chilli Farm - Mild Chilli Jam

In a 227g hexagonal jar, the labelling is simple and effective. The plain black background with red chillies works well. It isn’t crowded or over the top. It is classy and I feel that even though he hasn’t been around long, Jamie got the branding right first time!

Ingredients: Red Peppers, Sugar, Tomatoes, Red Wine Vinegar, Garlic, Ginger, Chillies – 1%.

This thick, chunky orangey red jam has a good few seeds in it and smells suspiciously like a salsa! The red bell peppers and ripe tomatoes really give this jam that freshly made salsa scent. There are lots of textures in the jar, crunchy ginger, soft tomato and juicy peppers really stand out.

You can taste all of the ingredients here! The garlic is subtle but you know its there. This really has a beautiful consistency and the heat is very soft and forgiving. The chilli gives a beautiful touch of warmth without detracting or covering any of the key parts.

The only thing I can fault is that I would use this as a salsa, rather than a jam. Perhaps a namechange to ‘Mild sweet salsa’ is a possibility?

Available from www.wiltshirechillies.co.uk at a reasonable price of £3.75, it will go very nicely on burgers, as a salsa, and as the jar suggests “…in a wrap with falafel and hummus”.
