Pain Is Good - Jalapeno Harissa

Pain Is Good - Jalapeno Harissa

Made by my namesake Original Juan a chilli sauces business based in Kansas City, USA. The Pain is Good range is massive with around 40 different hot Sauces, Salsa’s and snacks.

The sauce is thick and smells strongly of tomato, it is dark red/brownish in colour with pieces of chilli flesh and flecks of fresh Mint and Coriander leaves/Cilantro very visible in the mix, as the tomato smell fades, you can just about smell the unmistakable hint of  Jalapeños.

The products is listed as mild, but it has a good bite to it, with the Coriander  and Mint are the most predominate flavours, then the tomato and Jalapeno’s, it is a most unusual flavour, I suspect it would work well with some roast Lamb, as both Mint and Coriander are good at cutting through fatty meats.

Ingredients: Jalapenos, Water, Tomato Paste, White Vinegar, Garlic, Olive Oil, Fresh Mint, Cilantro and Spices.

Bottle kindly provided by Scorchio

The texture of the sauce reminds me of a salsa more that the paste texture I would expect from a Harissa, if anything it is a little over packed with Coriander for me, I like Jalapeños but did not get enough of that flavour from this when tasted on it own.

This is on special offer at Scorchio at the moment, it was £4.99 for a 191ml bottle, but now you can pick it up for just £1.99.
