Sea Spring Seeds – Dorset Naga ...

In 2006, a Dorset Naga chilli was tested by the BBC2 gardening show “Gardeners World” at 1,598,227 SHU’s, you would think this would be the World Record Holder, but Joy and Michael Michaud of Sea Spring Seeds did not feel confident with the result as it was such an extreme figure.

You have to remember this was 2006 and the previous record holder was the Red Savina Habanero at 577,000 SHU’s and it was not until February 2007 that the Naga Jolokia finally displaced it as the record holder with 1,001,304 SHU.

I think this just goes to show that it is possible that any of the chillies listed on our Scovile Heat Chart could if tested on the right day and conditions be the new World Record Chilli.
