Cottage Delight - Thai Sweet Chilli Crisps

Cottage Delight started in 1974 when founder Nigel Cope wanted to start his own business, he had a recipe for a butter fudge, this soon extended to Jams and Chutneys, since 1974 they have won 111 Great Taste Awards.

The business has grown from just selling via their local Staffordshire and Derbyshire independent stores to a truly nationwide business, I have seen there products all over the country

In the past I have been involved in making my own brand of super hot crisps under the ‘Hot Juan’ brand so I feel I have some expertise in crisps flavours, the basic crisps are excellent, very even and crisp and crunchy, unfortunately the flavour is a little nondescript, there is not a lot of flavour, even through the crisps look very well coasted.

Thai Sweet Chilli flavour need to do just what it says, but this has very little chilli flavour and is not sweet either, which is a great shame, so these crisps and very disappointing.

Ingredients: Potatoes, Sunflower Oil, Thai Sweet Chilli Flavouring (8%) (Paprika, Chilli, Sugar, Salt, Vinegar Powder (Contains Gluten), Rice Flour, Garlic, Yeast Extract, Maltodextrin, Lemon Juice, Chilli Infused Rapeseeds Oil, Colour: Paprika Extract, Oregano).

In my opinion these need a little more Thai chilli, much less paprika, a better balance between the sweetness and the chilli and maybe a little Lemongrass to give it that extra little Thai style.

Cottage Delight has an excellent web site at www.cottagedelight.co.uk were you can find out about there range of products and stockists.
