Fudges Jalapeno Wafers

Fudges Jalapeno Wafers

Fudges is a local firm for me based here is Yeovil, they are Just a few miles away in Stalbridge, Dorset, in 1926 local baker Percy Fudge opened his bakery, now 3 generations on they are still going strong, the range and evolved, I don’t expect Percy had access to Jalapeno’s.

The wafers are perfectly thin with a great golden colour and quite large pieces of green Jalapeno embedded in them, unfortunately, my packet seemed to have had a hard life and the bottom ¼ of the packet being a bit crushed, and that is a problem with making and selling such a delicate product (The packaging is adequate , but there is no window to see the contents).

Ingredients: Whipping Cream, Wheat Flour, Water, Cheddar Cheese (15%), egg, Jalapeno Peppers (4.5%), Slimmed Milk Powder, Salt, Paprika.

They do have a great crunch and the cheddar cheese and jalapeno peppers is an inspired combination, they are not hot or even warm, but the flavour from the jalapeno’s is while delicate defiantly there and just about perfect for this kind of gourmet product.

In 2007 they won a Great Taste Gold Award, and I can see why, they are exceptionaly tasty, you can buy these direct from Fudges on there web site or in 100’s of quality retailers around the country.
