Olives Et Al - hot putney sauce

Olives Et Al - hot putney sauce

Why Putney, well it is not a chutney is it, but is is very similar to a Tomato Chutney, if you have tried Olives Et Al Putney in the past you will know it is a excellent tomato based relish, that goes with almost everthing, today we are tring the the new hotter version.

The heat this up they have added some Harissa (6%) to the their putney, Harissa is a traditional Africa and Middle Eastern paste made from Chillies garlic and salt (see our recipe and make your own Harssia).

Ingredients: Sundried Tomatoes 24%, Wine Vinegar, Red Peppers 14%, Onions 14%, Sugar, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Harissa Paste 6% (Chilli, Garlic ,Salt), Tomato Puree, Chilli, Lemon Juice (from concentrate), Pepper.

hot putney like the original is bursting with flavour from the sundried tomatoes as it hits the tongue, with the onions being the next most prominent  flavour/texture in the mix, the kick of heat from the Harissa is perfectly balanced providing heat without killing the magic original product.

Editors Note: it would be interesting to see how well an extra hot putney with 12% Harissa would sell, it would certainly take Olives Et Al into the hot product market.

Using wine vinegar gives products like this an extra dimension to the flavour, which is not obvious, unless you have used it to make sauces and relishes, it is like adding red wine to mince beef, it lifts the product.

At £4.00 a jar is it not cheap, but the quality is excellent like all Olives Et Al products (Do try their olives as well), you can purchase this at all good deli’s if they don’t stock it tell them to order some now, and let people sample it, it will fly..
