Named after the third largest Hawaiian island O’ahu and make by Arturo’s Hot Flavours of Hawaii the sauce is thick and sticky with a dark red semi translucent colour.

On opening the bottle the sauce has a sweet flowery smell reminding me of warm tropical forests in exotic lands, the initial taste is like sweet fruit syrup, it is hotter than I expected, and most unusual,

then I can taste the sweet Guava and perfume from the Hibiscus flowers, followed by a big hit of ginger and lemon grass.

Ingredients: Sugar, Guava Jam (Sugar, Guava Puree, Pectin, Citric Acid), Water, Rice Vinegar, Vinegar, Habanero Chiles, Salt, Sea Salt, Hibiscus, Ginger Concentrate (Organic Compliant), Lemongrass Concentrate (Organic Compliant).

This is the first of the Arturo’s sauces I have tasted and it is a pretty unique flavour, it almost tastes as if I should be pouring it on ice-cream and pancakes or even a drizzle over a warm salad.

This sauce is available from Hot-Headz at just £3.99, not bad for a sauce that has travelled so far.

The Hibiscus has been used in herbal teas, and a study in 2008 showed that drinking Hibiscus tea can help lower blood pressure and Guava is often marketed as a “Superfruit” as it is rich in vitamins A & C with a single fruit containing up to four times the Vitamin C of an orange.

Been selling this for a couple of weeks along with the Moloka’i banana, coconut and curry sauce which sold out in just a few days. I shall be reordering from Hot-Headz next week.
