This is a mild pouring style sauce , in that it is thick enough to add to burger without running out and over your lap, while mild enough not to cause discomfort. There are no artificial, flavour, colours or extracts, and it is also one of the first sauces I have seen that uses roasted ingredients (to my knowledge that is).

Ingredients: Char-grilled vegetables (Tomatoes, Onion, Garlic), Serrano Chillies (20%), Cider Vinegar, Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice, Sea Salt.

On opening I recommend you smell this sauce before tasting, the smell is so appealing, an intense aroma of freshly cooked ripe tomatoes, it’s not that overly sweet smell from ketchup, but is much much more grown up and interesting after three of four good sniffs from the bottle, I am ready to taste.

The first flavours I get are from the roasted tomatoes, onion and garlic, then there is a hint of lime and finally that nice warm slightly peppery Serrano burn at the back of the tongue, even while tasting, it is the smell that set this sauce apart from many of the other I have tried.

I am becoming a bit of a addict to smelling sauces, so much of the flavour come via our sense of smell, we have lots more olfactory receptors (10 million’ish) that we have taste buds (500 – 2000), so remember to make an effort to smell your food it will taste so much more if you do.

This sauce will be going directly to my dining room table, it is the first Gringley Gringo sauce I have tasted and if this is anything to go by I am looking forward to tasting the rest, we have a couple more scheduled for the next few months, so watch this space.

My only gripe is very minor, but I had to use a magnifying glass to read the small print of the label, maybe I am getting old, but I don’t need glasses yet!
