Pain is Good - Batch #114 Jamaican Pineapple Salsa

Kansas is famous for BBQ , and from here comes an specialty foods company Original Juan, they make a range of chilli based products Including Hot Sauces, BBQ Sauces, Salsas , Dips, Snacks and Seasonings.

We have been sent a Jamaican Pineapple Salsa to review, which is one of their most mild products and even boasts of being wimpy. It comes in a good sized 440g jar, on opening there is a fruity pineapple smell, with a touch of tomato and garlic and vinegar.

Ingredients: Tomatoes (Tomatoes, Tomato Juice, Citric Acid and Calcium Chloride), Water, Pineapple Tidbits, Tomato Paste, Onions, While Vinegar, Green Chiles(Green Chiles, Salt, Citric Acid), Sugar, Apple Cider Vinegar, Green Peppers, Pineapple Juice Concentrate, Jalapenos, Salt, Dried Onions, Jerk Spices, Chopped garlic, Cilantro, and Spices.

The texture is of small lumps of the ingredients in a thin tomato sauce, this salsas has been cooked during the manufacture and this has means the flavours have all combined. This is a very tasty salsa, the sweetness from the Pineapple Tidbits (Interesting technical term) mixed with the tomato, followed by a peppery twang from the peppers and chiles. It a really good blend making it ideal for eating with tortilla chips while watching a movie, or how about stuffed some in a chicken breast and roasted it wrapped in bacon (The sweetness of the salsa would be great with the salty bacon).

I did not expect to like this salsa, I don’t normally go for anything with pineapple in it, I even pick it off pizza if I have to, but this was an exception, I even enjoyed finding the tidbits of pineapple.
