I love crisps (US Translation Chips) a few years ago we make our own Hot-Juan Brand Crisps so I know how hard it is to make a new flavour and to get it consistent, I have always loved Blair’s Death Rain Habanero crisp, every packet is hot and crunchy, and his other flavours Chipotle and Cajun are also excellent, each with there own unique flavour.

Now we have three new flavours available in the UK thanks to their importer Hot-Headz:-

Parmesan Habanero

Blair rates these as a medium heat crisp, and they do not have the shock value of the  XXX-Hot Habanero version and the crisps do not look highly spiced, there is a  good flavour of Parmesan, not as much as I would have liked, but very pleasent, the more I eat the better the flavour gets (I always seem to find this with things I like) The heat from Habanero has that fruitiness you would expect and a good kick of heat.

Over all, very tasty, the packet was gone before I noticed, and I almost opened another, but I have more flavours to taste, so that will have to wait.

Ingredients: – Potatoes, Sunflower oil and/or Corn oil, Salt, Whey powder, non fat dry Milk, Onion & Garlic powder, aged Parmesan cheese (milk, salt,W cheese cultures, enzymes) Maltodextrin, Dextrose, natural and artificial flavours (contains dairy and egg proteins), Spices (including Habanero), Lactic acid, Parsley.

Buffalo Wing

I love buffalo wings and in the past have tried a few snacks that claim to offer this as a flavour (Snyder’s of Hanover do a Buffalo Wing Pretzel Pieces was the last one if memory serves me). This is another medium heat flavour,  the crisps have a visible covering of the flavouring, which while not again strongly flavoured of chicken wings certainly had the warmth and flavour of the sauces they are coated in, Yummie.

These are a definite in my snacks list for Christmas, very very moreish

Ingredients:-  Selected potatoes, corn oil and/or sunflower oil, vinegar powder (maltodextrin, modified corn starch, dried vinegar), natural chicken flavor (salt, chicken fat, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, nonfat dry milk, modified food starch, silicon dioxide, etc etc.

Cheddar

Cheddar is not a flavour I would expect to find in the USA, I know they have cheddar, but I have never found it anything like the quality of the UK product, it is more of a colour and cheese style selection, these did not surprise, they taste of cheese and have a good kick of the chilli, but I am not sure I would describe it as cheddar, more like cheddar flavoured cheese wiz (Spray cheese). Having said that the crisps once again have an excellent crunch, far better than most UK manufacturers achieve, and the flavour is not bad once I get off the cheddar name.

Call then Hot Cheese Crisps and it a winner.

Ingedients:- Selected potatoes, corn oil and/or sunflower oil, whey, salt, cheddar cheese powder {cheese (milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes), whey, buttermilk, salt, sodium phosphate, lactic acid}, shortening powder (partially hydrogenated soybean oil, corn syrup etc etc.

Blairs Death Rain Snacks are available on-line from Hot-Headz, they are well worth, my favourite in the Buffalo Wing, but I recommend getting a selection pack and giving them all a try, there is not a duff one in the range.

Just got the Buffalo Wing chips to add to the other flavours and they are selling well. The favourites with my customers are the Habanero and the Chipotle.
