This is the first year for the Wessex Chilli Festival, which was held in the Cheese and Grain Hall in Frome, Somerset. Matt Simpson the Organiser from Simpsons Seeds had done an great job in getting a range of exhibitors to the event. This is best described as a small local event chilli event (I am sure they all start this way) and all the exhibitors I spoke to had an excellent time with a steady stream of interested customers.

  • Fire Foods had their range of excellent sauces available to taste and looking like they where selling very well www.firefoods.co.uk
  • Hot-Headz was offering tasting of their range of sauces as well the Blair’s Death Rain Crisps, my wife picked up a Methi Curry Sauce, which we will be reviewing in the next few days. www.hot-headz.com
  • Somerset Deli – was very popular as they had a good range of very tasty cheeses to try, we hope to be reviewing some of these very soon.
  • Purbeck Ice Cream had a complete selection of Ice Cream including flavours such as Chilli Red and Cracked Black pepper www.purbeckicecream.co.uk
  • Lavender Blue make some of the best cakes, we came away with a fab Lemon Cake.
  • Chillies2U – Was selling fresh chillies and their range of sauces www.chillies2u.co.uk
  • Sea Spring Seeds – Famous for the Dorset Naga, was selling fresh chillies and seeds www.seaspringseeds.co.uk
  • Simpson Seeds – Must be congratulated for a very successful first Wessex Chilli Festival www.simpsonsseeds.co.uk

Parking at the Cheese and Grain Hall was free (it was Sunday) with lots of spaces, it was a very pleasant morning and we look forward to many many more of these.
