I found this while wondering around the supermarket, having reviewed Extra Hot Mexicana from Ilchester Cheese a while ago I could not resist it.

Chilli Seriously Strong Spreadable Cheese

Chilli Seriously Strong Spreadable Cheese

This spread is a light yellow colour with a few flecks of red pepper, the texture is thick but spreadable. There is a definite taste of Cheddar with some mild chilli warmth, but there is little chilli flavour to be found.

Ingredients: – Seriously Strong Cheddar Cheese (53%), Water, Butter, Skimmed Milk Powder, Emulsifying salts (E339, E452) Chilli Powder, Preservatives (potassium sorbate, nisin) Dehydrated Red Pepper.

Chilli products like this miss the point, they use generic “Chilli” to add heat, when they should use a something with a definite flavour, I cannot think of a better chilli to add than the Jalapeno or Chipotle.

While not completely disappointing, I don’t expect this will be around for long, there are far better chilli cheeses available.
