Chill Sauce Varieties – Picante Sauce

Very similar style and ingredients to a Salsa but more pureed / finely chopped, Like salsa they are normally un-thickened. Commercial versions are generally cooked. You can make your own fresh uncooked versions of these sauces in the same way as you would a salsa, just blend them to a liquid.

The word “Picante” comes from the Spanish word “picar” meaning “to sting” describing to effect of the sauce in the mouth.
