Cholula Hot Sauce

Cholula Hot Sauce

A simple hot sauce, like many of the best products it creates an excellent flavour from basic ingredients. The Arbol and Piquin preserved in Salt and Vinegar with a few spices.

It comes in a unique 150ml bottle with a distinctive round wooden screw cap, it is a sauce I remember from my visits to California, and the mandatory breakfast burrito that helped banish jet-lag on the way to the office (not sure I miss this). The flavour is clean and warming, there is no unpleasant surprises or aftertaste, great on a burger or as part of a salad dressing.

The sauce is names after the City of Cholula, one of the oldest if not the oldest inhabited city in Mexico

Ingredients: Water, peppers (Arbol and Piquin), salt, vinegar, spices and xanthan gum.

There are few other sauces from Mexico that make it to the UK, this one has become a fixture in my kitchen.

It is available from the usual suspects, Hot-Headz, Scorchio, and even the odd supermarket now stocks it

I enjoy the flavour, but the texture is a bit off putting, having the pepper mash separating a bit. I prefer smoother texture. Overall \’d give it 8/10 for my taste.
